Peer Recovery Essentials: This program is designed for anyone desiring to work with individuals in recovery from drug, alcohol and/or other addictions and would be valuable additional training for those who may already work as a Peer Specialist. Gain a practical understanding of the power of Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC); the Stages of Change model; Ethical guidelines for “staying in your own lane” as you work with other professionals; as well as an in depth look at Alcohol and its destructive effects and many other currently abused prescription and street drugs.
Special attention is given to the three stages (zones) of addiction recovery and the challenges of early recovery, including navigating treatment services, connecting with mutual aid support groups, preventing relapse, and learning self-care.
Essentials is designed for anyone who desires to safely and effectively provide support services to people receiving services for substance use or co-occurring substance and mental disorders in a variety of settings. (IC&RC and NAADAC CEUs also included.)
